RSS MSU Dataset Notes:  (updated April 4, 2011)

Monthly Gridded Data:
In the folder named "data"

The same monthly gridded data are provided in multiple formats:

1. binary  -  read routines are in the "support" directory

2. netcdf  -  self describing data format

3. UAH format -  text format compatible with data published by UAH.
                 These files may be read by UAH reading software:
                 http://www.nsstc.uah.edu/data/msu/
                 http://www.nsstc.uah.edu/data/msu/docs/readme.msu

Use the verification file to check whether the data files have been read correctly.


Monthly Zonal Time Series:
In the folder named "monthly_time_series"
        Area Average anomaly data provided for several zonal latitude bands.
        Different files contain Ocean, Land, or Ocean and Land data.
        The land and ocean file also contains continental U.S.
